Child Safety Standards
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Our standards
x/pat has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, and any sexualization of minors. This applies to everything on x/pat: profiles, photos, spots, posts, events, city chats and direct messages.
How we prevent it
- Adults only (18+). x/pat is not for children or teens. Sign-up requires a date of birth and blocks anyone under 18, and accounts found to belong to a minor are closed.
- Automated checks. Text and photos, including direct messages and profile photos, are scanned automatically for sexual content involving minors and other harmful content.
- Reporting and blocking are available on every profile, post and message.
- Our Terms of Service prohibit CSAE, and breaking this rule means permanent removal.
How we respond
- Reports involving minors are prioritized and reviewed as soon as possible, and always within 24 hours.
- We remove CSAM as soon as we know about it and permanently ban the accounts involved.
- As required by US law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A), we report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline and preserve the material as the law requires. We cooperate with law enforcement.
How to report
- In the app: tap Report on the profile, post or message, choose "Inappropriate" and say that it involves a minor.
- By email: hello@xpat.social (subject "Child safety"). Don't attach or forward abusive images; describe where they are.
- Directly to NCMEC: report.cybertip.org or 1-800-843-5678. Outside the US, you can also report to your national hotline (inhope.org).
- If a child is in immediate danger, call local emergency services.
